Being a parent means that I get to experience the world through the eyes of my child[ren]; experiencing the ice cream truck for the first time, first trip to the zoo, first time at the pool, so many firsts! For my husband and myself, being parents also means that we get to relive our youth through the nostalgia of books and toys. When you walk into Declan’s playroom, you’ll see the Sesame Street Playhouse, a Little People Farm, I Can Read books (the same ones we had in the 70s and 80s), and even a Tupperware Shape Sorter. I think that there is both a desire to relive happy memories from our youth, as well as to pass on toys that gave us great joy to our son, in hopes that he’ll enjoy those toys just as much as we did (if not more).
Every so often, a ‘vintage’ toy will become popular, and make the rounds before quietly disappearing for a few years [until it becomes popular again]. One toy I’ve seen make continual reappearances is the bouncer, the space hopper, or hopper ball; whatever you called it, it’s around again for your children to enjoy! I remember the simple red ones in the 70s and 80s; I don’t think I ever owned one, but I remember bouncing on my friends’ red bouncers. Then, around ten years ago, I spotted a bouncer in the store and just knew that I had to get it for my eldest niece’s 3rd birthday (she loved it, of course). My son will be two in a couple of weeks: the perfect age for Brown Owl Kids’ Space Hoppers.
Brown Owl sent us Carlos the Frog to try out and he did not disappoint! Declan giggled at the first sight of Carlos the Frog, and quickly made a beeline to climb aboard. Once we showed him how to bounce, Declan was bouncing, giggling, and repeatedly falling-off; a good time was had by all. As a parent, I love the fact that Brown Owl’s Space Hopper is a toy that Declan doesn’t tire of easily; in fact, Declan continually attempts to stay on the hopper, trying over and over again, which tires him out and helps him develop coordination (A+ from mom and dad!). Once Declan grows a bit more, he’ll be able to master his balance and stay on the Hopper a bit more, and he’ll be ready to bounce all over the house (great physical toy!).
Brown Owl’s Space Hoppers are great for outdoors as well; simply remove the adorable character cover (Carlos the Frog or Rocky the Elephant) and let your little one bounce around the yard [in their play clothes]. Brown Owl’s adorable Hoppers are sold exclusively on Amazon; you can order Carlos the Frog HERE, or Rocky the Elephant HERE, and be sure to use this promo code for 15% off of your purchase: NINIYZSQ.
