* I was provided a service, at no cost to myself, in exchange for my honest opinion.
As much as I wish that I had an eye for design, I’m really not that creative (in that sense). I know what I like, and I know what is aesthetically pleasing, I just am not great at creating it myself. So, when the opportunity for some design work came my way, I jumped at the chance!
As my blog grows, I receive offers from more companies wanting to work with me. More often than not, PR companies request my media kit…which up until now, I’ve not had. A media kit puts all of my website’s info into a page or snapshot, if you will: my blog philosophy, my audience, stats, other sites where I’ve posted, etc. I offer advertising and other paid opportunities on my blog, so I have a second page with pricing information for companies interested in advertising on my site.
In comes Shannon from Just One Sparrow Image Design. I have to say that Shannon practically qualifies as a saint for the amount of patience she possesses! We began working together, literally days before I had a large event launching and right before my world was overturned by miscarriage and subsequent health problems. Needless to say, I was a nightmare client.
I began by giving Shannon all of my boring information – stats, profile photo, guest post info, etc. – and then the fun began when she started turning all of that information into something beautiful. While I was not quick to respond or send emails, Shannon was able to get a sense of who I am, and work with my color scheme and style to create a media kit that was professional and reflective of myself:

Apart from loving the design she created for me, one of the things I loved about working with Shannon was that she remained patient, professional and in-control when things got a bit crazy on my end (honestly, I was a pain-in-the-butt client in this situation). Not only did Shannon create a beautiful media kit for me, but, due to my quickly growing blog, she created a second file for me to be able to adjust my own numbers.
