Today’s featured WAHM, Stacy DeVreese, is the co-founder/owner of Sun Angels sun protection sleeves. I worked with Sun Angels last summer, and absolutely love their no-mess sun protection gear; you can read my review HERE.
Sun Angels was formed because sun protection is a big concern of mine. As a kid myself I spent too much time in the sun. I wanted to make sure my kids would understand that sun protection is important to their overall health and wellness. So from day one my kids have worn hats and sunscreen. But I found sunscreen to be so hard to get on a wiggly, squirmy toddler. I started brainstorming with my sister-in-law who was facing the same challenge with her two young boys. Sun Angels was started with the goal of making sun protection easier.
According to the Skin cancer Foundation, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. It is exposure to UV light that can lead to the three types of skin cancer, melanoma, squamous cell and basal cell carcinomas. Children are especially vulnerable to the potential harmful effects of UV light because their skin is thinner and has less melanin than adults. This makes protecting children’s skin a real concern. Children can have sensitive skin that can be irritated by the use of sunblock. UPF clothing and accessories provide protection against both UVA and UVB rays and can be worn by children with sensitive skin.
Designed with kids and parents in mind, Sun Angels arm sleeves are kid-friendly, fashionable and offer UPF 50+ protection, the best possible rating for protection against potentially harmful UV rays. These easy-to-slip-on arm sleeves offer parents an instant, chemical-free alternative to the often-challenging task of lathering on and re-applying sticky sunblock to a wiggly child. No mess. No fuss. No missing out on the fun for your little angel. Summer clothing usually leaves children’s arms exposed to UV light. We believe that Sun Angel’s UPF 50+ arm sleeves will help make getting your little ones outside a little bit easier.
It is our mission that all children receive proper sun protection education at an early age. The goal of our Sunrays of Hope program is to bring awareness about sun safety and provide support and resources for those who share the same mission. You can learn more at www.sun-angels.com. Here are sun safety tips for a safe summer.
- Avoid direct sunlight between the hours of 10am to 4pm
- Play in the shade as often as possible
- Wear hats and sun protective clothing
- Apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of 30 or greater to exposed areas of skin 30 minutes prior to going outside and every 2 hours while outside
- Remember sun protection everyday not just while at the beach or pool
