Having been cloth diapering for over two years now, I’ve dealt with my share of dirty diapers. While dealing with the solids can be a dirty job, there are a lot of options out there to aid you in taking care of your diapers and keeping your bathroom (and yourself) germ-free. I bypassed diaper sprayers, diaper sprayer shields, and even dirty diaper mitts, as I felt that these would just add another step to the process and over complicate things; I like to maintain a simple cloth diapering routine, and fleece liners alleviated the need for a sprayer. Plus, all of these items would also become pretty unnecessary once my little guy potty trained (we’re still not 100% there, but we’re close). When I was approached by Kohler to try a couple of their products, I felt it was kismet, as we had just begun potty training.
Kohler sent us their Touchless Toilet Flush Kit to try out, and I love the concept; no more dirty hands on the handle, and it’s easy to flush with a [soiled] diaper in your hand without having to touch the toilet handle. My husband took care of the installation, which was relatively easy and took under 10 minutes to install. What ended up taking longer was getting used to not using the handle to flush the toilet! I can’t tell you how many times I found myself trying to use the handle the first few days! Kohler’s Touchless Toilet Flush Kit is great for transitioning into potty training as well; forget about bribing your little one with candy, just let them wave their hand to magically flush the toilet (talk about having the ultimate power)! Your child is happy to be able to wave their magical hand, and you’ll be happy to keep dirty hands off of the toilet. The only downside I would mention is that the Touchless Kit is powered with batteries, so you’ll want to keep a stash on-hand (or be ready to manually pull the chain when the batteries run out).
The other item Kohler sent us to test was their Transitions Toilet Seat. I was incredibly excited about this product, as it is the perfect item for potty training families and families with young children! No more inserts, portable potties, or clutter; the Transitions Toilet Seat takes care of it for you. Simply flip down the child-sized seat when your little one has to use the toilet, and flip back up for adult use; easy peasy! Unfortunately, we were unable to use this seat, as we do not have an elongated toilet (insert frown face here). At this time, the Transitions Toilet Seat is only available for elongated toilets, so be sure to check before you run out to buy one! If Kohler ever comes out with a version for rounded toilets, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat; it’s ingenious!
