Nighttime Security: Diaper Boosters and Mattress Protectors

2014/07 By Lauren B. Stevens 4 Comments

NorthShoreCare

I first discovered NorthShore Care Supply when we switched to disposable diapers for nighttime…and our heavy wetter was still managing to leak through them.  I was desperate to find a solution for the nighttime leaks, that did not involve waking him at night for a diaper change, and a friend suggested diaper boosters.  I knew that cloth diapering’s equivalent to boosters were soakers, but never knew that there was such a thing as a disposable booster.

My local Toys R Us carried these boosters, and I reserved a pack online the day after my discovery; however, driving 25-35 minutes to stock up each month (my store only ever had 2 packs, at most) was a hassle.  Thankfully, I was able to purchase our boosters from NorthShore Care Supply through Amazon (we always seem to have credits in our account there), and stocked-up (and saved) on a 6 month supply!  NorthShore recently came out with their own booster, which is more absorbent, thinner, and features an adhesive strip to keep the booster in place; we were sent a pack to try and I LOVE them!  (If you order through NorthShore directly, or through Amazon, be sure to use this code for 10% off: DLGSAWZR)

Declan grew older, and became more mobile in his crib, which meant that the waterproof pads I layered between his crib sheets were no longer a viable option to protect his mattress from leaky diapers.  The waterproof pads, which never fit the length of his extended-length IKEA crib, either slid off to the side, or didn’t offer full coverage to protect from leaks.  Naptime and nighttime security came in the form of the Protect-a-Bed® Premium Crib Mattress Protector from NorthShore Care Supply.

NorthShore Care Supply sent us one of their Protect-a-Bed® Premium Crib Mattress Protectors to try, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fit over our extended length mattress.  Unlike other mattress pads, that use straps to secure them over the four corners (but never really work well to keep them in place), the Protect-a-Crib protector is designed like a fitted sheet.  Protect-a-Bed’s Premium line features the Miracle Membrane®, which provides a waterproof layer without restricting air flow; in other words, you’ll have a protected mattress without a sweaty baby.  Concerned about allergens?  The Protect-a-Bed® Premium Mattress Protector prevents bacteria and dust mites from breeding, greatly reducing the occurrence of allergies.  Better still, each mattress protector comes with a two-year factory warranty, protecting against tears or leaks.

If you’re a co-sleeping family, Protect-a-Bed® has you covered as well, with a full line of mattress protectors for all standard mattress sizes.  If you’re interested in purchasing a Protect-a-Bed® product, NorthShore Care Supply is offering free shipping for Protect-a-Bed® purchases (including additional items purchased) with the code: H25.

I rest easy, knowing that my son is protected, with both diaper boosters and an absorbent waterproof mattress pad, and he’s able to get the quality sleep he needs.

You can save 10% off of NorthShore brand booster pads with code: DLGSAWZR (Amazon or direct), or take advantage of free shipping on Protect-a-Bed® purchases with code: H25.

You can visit NorthShore Care Supply at northshorecare.com, or connect with them via social media on Facebook or Twitter.

I am so thankful that my youngest doesn’t soak through the bed too often. He still wears diapers 🙁 at night. He is still in the crib but I do plan on buying a waterproof mattress pad liner or mattress cover when he switches over to his big boy bed. He is currently sleeping in his crib that we converted to a toddler bed.

Nighttime potty training seems like a dream, as daytime is nonexistent as soon as underwear or trainers are put on my son 🙁 He’s still in his crib (ours converts to a toddler bed as well), and I don’t see him transitioning anytime in the near future (he moves around in his sleep SO much). Plus, I need the added security of crib time while I take my morning shower 😉

We maintain four children, two in diapers. In the present climate my preferably half proper conveys two or three diapers, a not many wipes, a join of futile baggies and a pacifier promptly in her tote. We amass some additional garments in the raise of the minivan. All things else is sauce.
