We never bottle-fed, so moving to a sippy cup was a breeze. However, finding one that is the best fit (and I truly think there is such a thing) for D has been a trial and error process. One of the cups we tried is Nuby’s 4-in-1 Convert-a-Cup:
One feature that I absolutely love in this cup is the easy cleaning involved; the lid and spout are one piece! Made from soft silicone, Nuby’s patented No-Spill Spout lives up to it’s name. Here is D testing it out:
The spout requires kiddos to put a little pressure on it to open, and D knew just what to do. Because the spout is larger, he often plays with it (especially when teething). Here he is, pointing out the great No-Spill Spout:
In the picture above, you can see the air release (the circle in front of the spout). It took me a while to realize that I needed to open the release, not having done so when I first opened the cup and washed before use, because the lid kept indenting from the suction inside.
This is a cup that grows with your kiddo. Declan no longer uses the handles, which remove easily, and can use the base as a cup when he’s a little older. Because the lid doesn’t screw on (it fits over the top of the cup), there are no grooves in the plastic (which would make for some messy drinking as an open cup).
While the 4-in-1 Convert-a-Cup is a little large for a baby under 6 months old (it holds 8oz), it’s the perfect size for older babies quickly developing their motor skills and will grow along with the skills they master.
