As a Nüby Mom Blogger, I get to sample products to test and share my thoughts; Nüby’s been with us through teething, first sippy cups, first utensils, and early baths in the ‘big tub’. Nüby’s products are meant to grow with your little ones, as they have grown with us. When I began working with Nüby, I couldn’t even imagine that the day would come when we would be testing out Nüby’s training potty. A year-and-a-half later, here we are (sniffle, sniffle).
The truth is that I am overjoyed that my diaper laundry has decreased significantly, but D isn’t fully potty trained…yet. I can tell you that Nüby’s Training Potty has been a great help in the training process. From the day we received the potty, Declan was interested, used it over and over (it was still a novelty) and then lost interest after a few days. I put potty training on hold for our move across state, and then continued to put off potty training as we settled into our new home.
A couple months after moving, D began telling me that he needed diaper changes infrequently; a couple weeks after that, he was telling me that he needed diaper changed 12-14 times a day, and I felt that I was reliving his newborn days! After two weeks of being at D’s diaper beck and call, I came to the conclusion that he was ready to potty train, especially if he was telling me that he needed a change each time he urinated.
I set up our Nüby Training Potty, which Declan had been alternately using as a hat (the removable insert) and a frame for his face (the base), and we were off and running again. We’ve had a few accidents, but these are easily attributed to the new routine. Here are a few details I like about Nüby’s Training Potty:
– rubber-like material on base prevents the potty from skidding on smooth surfaces, such as hardwood floors
– removable insert makes it easy to empty and clean after each use
– simple, comfortable design
If you have an early potty trainer, you may need to assist your little one onto this potty. Declan first began using this potty when he was 19 months old, and he lacked the balance and coordination to sit down on the potty by himself. At 24 months old, he has now perfected a ‘shuffle mount’, going behind the potty and shuffling forward to take a seat.
