Organic Argan Oil, Taking My Hair from Frizzy to Fabulous!

2014/06 By Lauren B. Stevens 5 Comments

Disclosure: I received this product as part of an advertorial.

If you have curly or wavy hair, like myself, then straightening your hair can be an arduous task; time consuming and often very damaging to your hair.  Pregnancy stripped the beautiful curls and wave from my hair, leaving me with a kinky and frizzy mess of hair.  I am absolutely jealous of those woman with poker straight hair that air dries beautifully; I am not one of those woman, for sure.  Years ago, while living in Florida, I discovered the straightening iron, which straightened my hair with the aid of a ceramic brush, but didn’t give my hair a sleek and natural look.  Not long after, I was introduced to a product that gave me gorgeously sleek hair when straightening, but it took me a while to get the appropriate amount down (too much gave me greasy, stringy hair).  The problem with said product is that it was synthetic, and very similar to coating my hair in plastic (yuck!). UNiArganOil Fast forward to about 4 years ago, when I began being very conscious about the products I used in my daily life.  My scalp was suddenly sensitive, and I was forced to switch to natural skin and hair care products.  Still wearing my hair in a straight style (I still sported waves on humid/rainy days or days that I was running a little late), I came across Argan oil.  I thought it was a little strange to put oil into my fine hair, but no stranger than putting a synthetic plastic-y product, I supposed.  I had a sample of Argan oil from a new ceramic iron I had purchased, and gave it a go.  I was sold after the first use.  No more plastic coating on my hands and hair, just a smooth oil with a light scent; best of all, the product I was using was natural. I jumped at the opportunity to review UNi’s Organic Argan Oil because a.) my experiences with Argan oil have all been positive, and b.) I was running out of my current bottle (at least I’m honest).  While I primarily use Argan oil for my hair, it is also a wonderful natural skin care product. UNiOrganicArganOil I don’t style my hair every day, so off-days I simply use a few drops of UNi Argan Oil, rubbed in the palms of my hands, and run through my damp hair to use as an anti-frizz agent for air drying.  That’s it.  No other products used and it works nicely.  When I’m straightening my hair, I blow dry my hair until it’s just a bit damp, again place a few drops (about 4-5 drops) of UNi Argan Oil in the palm of my hand and work through my damp hair.  I continue to blow my hair dry with a ceramic brush, and then use the straightening iron to finish the look, adding a little more Argan oil if necessary.  But be careful!  If you put the oil in your hair while it’s dry, or use more than a few drops, you are likely to be left with a greasy, stringy mess of hair; a little goes a long way.  Take a look at my before and after photos:
