Chaos. Chaos is the word to describe my work week and the state of my home. I work from home, while raising my son, and admittedly have issues with structure. I’m great at making lists and tackling tasks, when they’re work-related, but my home is often at the end of any of those pesky ‘to do’ lists. My biggest issue is scheduling my time throughout the day, which means that I never get around to organizing my home and straightening the clutter.
Babyganics came across an old post of mine, How Many Calories Does Scrubbing the Tub Burn?, on Twitter and offered to send me some of their natural cleaning products to try. I had just purchased their baby wash the previous weekend, so this was a company that was definitely on my radar. After a failed attempt to meet with their area marketing rep, she kindly stopped by my house, on a Friday afternoon, with a Babyganics goodie bag full of natural cleaning products. I shared my excitement on Instagram:
This was exactly the motivation and the inspiration I needed to get started with my household cleaning and organization (thanks, Babyganics!). As my husband had planned an outing for he and my son the next day, I was free to get started [without a two year old whirling dervish to distract me]. First up: tackling the playroom. If you have a child, toddler age or older, you know how quickly a playroom can begin to resemble a bomb detonation site. My little guy’s playroom is no exception, and I often just ‘sweep’ the toys out of the way instead of a daily clean up. The result? Our entire downstairs (where the playroom is located) looks like a fallout area, with toys finding their way into our kitchen and dining room.
After a toy roundup, and almost two hours of sorting, organizing, and wiping everything down, the end result was amazing (any bets on how long it will last once the toddler is let loose?):
After rounding up all of the small pieces (about a bazillion of them), sorting, and organizing, I gave everything in the playroom a good wipe down with Babyganics toy, table, and highchair wipes. Not only were my surfaces clean (surfaces that my son comes in contact with every day), I knew that I had cleaned them with a natural product, devoid of ammonia, bleach or phosphates — no harmful chemicals were involved in the cleaning process!
After tackling the playroom, I’m ready to grab a little ‘me’ time before the boys get back; I can’t wait to try some of the other Babyganics products in my natural cleaning care package!
