Fall Cleaning with Help From Babyganics

2014/10 By Lauren B. Stevens Leave a Comment

Chaos.  Chaos is the word to describe my work week and the state of my home.  I work from home, while raising my son, and admittedly have issues with structure.  I’m great at making lists and tackling tasks, when they’re work-related, but my home is often at the end of any of those pesky ‘to do’ lists.  My biggest issue is scheduling my time throughout the day, which means that I never get around to organizing my home and straightening the clutter.

Babyganics came across an old post of mine, How Many Calories Does Scrubbing the Tub Burn?, on Twitter and offered to send me some of their natural cleaning products to try.  I had just purchased their baby wash the previous weekend, so this was a company that was definitely on my radar.  After a failed attempt to meet with their area marketing rep, she kindly stopped by my house, on a Friday afternoon, with a Babyganics goodie bag full of natural cleaning products.  I shared my excitement on Instagram:

Looking forward to cleaning this weekend (seriously). Thanks for the #naturalproduct goodie bag, @babyganics!

Soap Nuts? That’s Nuts! NaturOli Soap Nuts Review

Select grade USDA certified organic soap nuts

So, I’d been hearing musings about soap nuts in my cloth diapering and natural parenting circles, and my curiosity was piqued.  In my quest to become more eco-conscious, I recently jumped on the wool dryer ball bandwagon and had a strong desire to go completely natural with my laundering.
I will be honest and say that, even after reading about soap nuts, I still couldn’t wrap my mind around how they worked.  How can something that’s not soap create ‘soap’?  More to the point, how on earth would soap nuts actually work? [Read more…]
